Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott provided fans with an update on his condition after leaving practice with a shoulder injury.

The first padded practice of the Dallas Cowboys offseason did not go the way anyone wanted it too.

It wasn’t that there was something wrong with the schemes or that the chemistry was lacking between players. Rather it was the fact that quarterback Dak Prescott has already been forced out of action due to an injury.

Prescott left Cowboys practice on Wednesday with soreness in his throwing arm. He underwent an MRI and participated in practice on Thursday but did not throw.

After news of his injury spread to fans, who are obviously worried by any mention of Prescott not feeling like himself, the quarterback gave an update on how he’s feeling.

Dak Prescott injury update: Cowboys QB gives a status report

“I felt some soreness when making certain throws today, and I really just decided not to push things too far. Better to be cautious and smart about it,” Prescott said, via The Athletic‘s Jon Machota. “I don’t see this as any kind of serious setback. We’ll treat it on a daily basis, and I’ll be fine.”

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said that Prescott will in all likelihood resume throwing a day or two, but wouldn’t give a definitive answer.

Prescott is attempting to come back from a brutal ankle injury that ended his 2020 season early. Before his injury, Prescott looked to be on track for an MVP-caliber season. Had he not been taken off the board so early in the season there’s a decent chance the Cowboys end up in the playoffs rather than licking their wounds with a 6-10 record.
