President flies in for Lukaku talks, Man City ready to sell Sterling and Oblak opens door to summer move in Chelsea roundup…
Inter Milan’s president Steven Zhang has reportedly flown in to Italy this week to discuss the future of Chelsea’s top summer target Romelu Lukaku.
Thomas Tuchel is a man that knows he needs to improve certain areas of the pitch in the coming transfer window to turn this Chelsea side into Premier League winners.
And with the likes of Timo Werner, Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud all failing to impress in front of goal this season, It is pretty clear that the German coach wants to add a premium striker to the attack.
Erling Haaland has been the name most linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as the young man has become one of the most sought after players in world football, but the club will face strong competition from several rivals across Europe including Real Madrid and Manchester City.
And according to recent reports, Chelsea now view Lukaku as the ‘most achievable’ target for the upcoming window and are now accelerating plans to re-sign the Belgium international.
However, Zhang has arrived to hold talks this week over the futures of Lukaku and head coach Antonio Conte, according to the Daily Mail.
Lukaku is a world class striker and Zhang will not want to lose him in the transfer window, unless of course, they get some serious money for the man.
Lukaku, 27, has been a massive hit in Italy, scoring 61 times in 91 games for Inter, who are currently on course to secure their first Serie A title since 2010, and his record on the international stage is equally impressive with 58 goals in 90 appearances for FIFA’s top-ranked country.
Lukaku is world class as we have just said, but it would be a massive shock to see him back at Chelsea next season when he is enjoying his time over in Italian football, why would he want to leave?
Atletico Madrid goalkeeper and Chelsea target Jan Oblak has left the door open to a possible Premier League move.
Oblak has established himself as one of the top keepers in Europe since joining Atletico from Benfica in 2014, attracting a long list of high-profile admirers in the process.
Despite having the impressive Edouard Mendy between the sticks, it is believed that Tuchel will still look to acquire some funds in the transfer window and add a more established stopper to the line-up, with Oblak a top target for some time now.
“The Premier League has strong teams. Maybe the strongest. But I think in the end it is what the coach is asking of you. You listen to his instructions,” the Atletico goalkeeper said during an interview with European football expert Guillem Balague.
“You are one of the 11, so you do what he asks of you. All the players on the pitch are thinking like that. It doesn’t matter if it’s the Premier League, Italian league, Spanish league, wherever you go you need to do what the coach is asking you to do.”
Asked if he can picture himself playing in the Premier League, Oblak added: “I don’t know. I don’t know what the future will bring, but I am sure that in any league I would play I could play well. You never know what will happen in the future.
“Now I have been in Spain for seven years. Let’s see. I’m still young. Not so young anymore, but I still have some years in front of me.
“The most important thing for me is the hope that I do not suffer any injuries. Let’s see what the future will bring.”
Look, at the end of the day, if there is a chance to sign Oblak, Chelsea should take it.
Manchester City are willing to sell Raheem Sterling this summer, which could alert the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid
Regarded as one of the finest attackers in world football, Sterling has established himself under the guidance of Pep Guardiola over the past few seasons, and has become areal source of goals for City.
However, this season he has struggled to score the goals that he has become accustomed to at City, and has even found himself on the bench more often than he would have liked, which did not shock many of us in the media.
Now according to Football Insider, Guardiola is willing to part with the England international as he seeks to free up funds that will allow moves for Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish to be made.
City are one of the richest clubs in world football, but they have a number of players in key areas of the pitch and Guardiola would probably need to sell in order to keep his squad happy.
And if the reports are true and City are willing to sell Sterling, then Chelsea may try and reignite their interest in the winger. The Blues were keen on Sterling before he made the move to City, and with Thomas Tuchel looking to add some more goals to his attack, he may ask for the board to make a move.
However, Sterling is a happy man at City and he will only leave the club if he is forced too, which Guardiola will not do as he has too much respect for the attacker.
But it will be interesting to see how this all plays out right?
