Messi Tagliafico Haaland and Silva feature in Chelsea roundup

Lamps confirms Silva has agreement, Zorc addresses Haaland rumours, Silva to stop Spurs duo? Tagliafico has agreement and would fans welcome Messi in Chelsea roundup…

Borussia Dortmund director Michael Zorc has dismissed the ongoing transfer rumours surrounding Chelsea-linked striker Erling Haaland.

The 20-year-old has hit a staggering 33 goals in his first 31 outings for BVB across all competitions, and he is now considered to be one of the most deadly strikers in the game, and certainly in the Bundesliga.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United along with the likes of Real Madrid, are reportedly ready to pay the big money to try and secure a deal at the end of the season, with reports suggesting that it could cost one of the clubs close to £100 million to nail down his services.

However, Zorc is paying no attention to the speculation surrounding the ex-Salzburg star’s future, as he told a press conference on BILD: “We plan for the long term with Erling. [Rumours] do not have to be dealt with at all.

“I will see him with us for a long time.”

Asked if it is important to carefully manage the weight of expectation on Haaland’s shoulders at this stage of his career, the Dortmund chief responded: “You don’t have to ground him at all.

“He exudes such a positive dynamic. Why should we slow it down now?

“He is leading the way, that is very good for us. I do not believe in artificially slowing positive developments.”

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has confirmed there is an option to extend Thiago Silva’s contract by another year.

After leaving PSG at the back-end of last season, Many in the media firmly believes that Silva was too old to make an impact in the Premier League and was just looking for one more big pay-check before he heads over to China or the MLS.

But the Brazilian has looked nothing short of world class for this Chelsea side and have helped the Blues get back on track in their quest to regain that Premier League title from under the noses of Manchester City and Liverpool

Lampard always expected Silva to be a success at Stamford Bridge but he has been blown away by the 36-year-old’s conduct on and off the pitch, and recent reports in the media revealed that Chelsea were keen to open talks and get the Brazilian signed up to a new contract.

Now it has been revealed that Lampard has confirmed that there is an option for Chelsea to sign up the Brazilian for another season, the post on Twitter revealed: “Lampard confirms there is an option to extend Thiago Silva’s contract by another year. #CHETOT

Chelsea are ‘in the equation’ for a shock Lionel Messi transfer, but would he be a good signing for the club at this stage of his career?

Messi hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons in the summer after it was revealed they he had handed in a transfer request to leave the club after the Spaniards failed to pick up any silverware by the end of the season.

The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been credited with moves for the player, as they are the only three clubs in the Premier League that can even come close to paying his sky high wages.

However, despite all the talks that he was leaving the club, ultimately he opened up and revealed that he would see out his current deal which ends in 2021 as he did not want to take Barcelona through the courts in order to get a move away from the club.

But there is still talk that he will leave Barcelona at the end of the season, with the Premier League his preferred destination, and Chelsea are one of only a few clubs that would be able to pay his massive £600,000-a-week contract.

According to Spanish football expect Guillem Balague, Chelsea could be among the clubs to chase Messi’s signature, Speaking on his YouTube channel, Balague said: “Chelsea are definitely in the equation if Messi becomes available. That is true.

Chelsea will insist they want to hear everything that is going on.

“If they have the money they will want to be involved too. Remember, there is no transfer fee.”

Look, losing Messi would be an absolute blow to Barcelona and they surely simply cannot let him leave the club at the end of the season, he is that important to the side. But if he did come to the Premier League, it will be very interesting to see just who he decides to join.

Chelsea, United and City all have the money to get a deal done, so as we said, it will be interesting to see just what happens.

But do Chelsea fans really want to see the 33-year old make the move to London? he is coming towards the back end of his top-level playing days and is not even getting the kind of numbers at Barcelona that he was just last season.

Chelsea transfer target Nicolas Tagliafico is set to sign a new Ajax deal but can still leave next summer, according to reports.

It was no secret in the media that Frank Lampard was seeking to add another left-back to his squad over the summer transfer window and had been keeping a very close eye on Tagliafico, who has established himself in Europe.

However, despite all the rumours and speculation that Chelsea were very keen to nail down Tagliafico, Chelsea opted to splash the cash and bring the impressive Ben Chilwell to the club in a deal worth around £50 million.

However, there is a feeling that Chelsea still need to add to this squad in the coming windows, and add another left-back to the squad, meaning that Tagliafico will still be on the shopping list when the transfer window opens up at the end of the season.

And according to De Telegraaf, the 28-year-old could still be up for grabs at the end of the season despite the new contract with the Dutch champions in the offing

The Argentina international is said to have agreed a new deal in principle with Ajax. His agent Ricardo Schlieper has confirmed the club reached an agreement with the player on Thursday afternoon.

However, an ‘informal agreement’ is in place which would allow Tagliafico to leave to ‘pursue his dream of playing in a top competition’ once this season has finished, and the right amount of money is offered to Ajax.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard believes Thiago Silva’s experience and leadership can help him stop high-flying duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Despite all the stick that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho gets about the way that he likes to play the game, this Spurs side are one of the highest scorers in the Premier League and average around 2.5 goals per game.

The Spurs front two have 16 Premier League goals between them already this season, which has helped their side claim top spot in the Premier League table, and they will be the biggest danger for a Chelsea side that are also in great form.

Annd Lampard thinks his summer signing from PSG will be keen to stop such a potent combination: “Let’s be fair to Harry Kane, he can probably play against most defenders in world football and give them a problem,” Lampard told reporters ahead of the match.

“I don’t want to tempt fate but with Thiago’s qualities, his positioning and his experience, he can deal with these things individually. But as much as that, the influence is what he gives to others around him.

“The major thing when you play against players as clever as Kane and Son is that your concentration levels are absolutely spot on and you have the desire to deal with situations and keep clean sheets. Thiago gives off that.

“His individual talent, yes, but also as a unit, we have to make sure and Thiago is the leader of that unit when you look at the back end of the pitch.”
