The game between third ranked Zalgiris II (10-5) and eleventh ranked Palanga (4-4) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. Zalgiris II was defeated by Palanga in Kaunas 74-85. Palanga forced 22 Zalgiris II turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Zalgiris II helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Taurantas Tamosiunas (196-92) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Chase Harler (191-98, college: WVU) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Forward Paulius Murauskas (203-4) answered with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for Zalgiris II. Zalgiris II’s coach Arvydas Gronskis rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn’t help. Palanga have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to tenth place. Zalgiris II at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Palanga are looking forward to face league’s leader Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zalgiris II will play on the road against Vilnius and is hoping to win this game.
Mazeikiai’s fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after 12 consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Neptunas-Akv. (5-7) on the road game in Klaipeda 84-74. It was a great evening for center Edgaras Preibys (200-2) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. Augustinas Venckus helped adding 22 points. At the losing side forward Nojus Mineikis (201-0) responded with 9 points and 11 rebounds. Neptunas-Akv.’s coach Simonas Serapinas tested ten players, but that didn’t help to avoid defeat in this game. Mazeikiai maintains fifteenth place with 1-12 record. It was Neptunas-Akv.’s third loss in a row. They keep the eighth position with seven games lost. Mazeikiai will play against higher ranked Delikatesas (#13) in Joniskis in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Neptunas-Akv. will play at home against Vytis (#4) having rather not much hope for a victory.
NKL top team – Suduva-Mantinga (13-3) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed fourteenth ranked Silales Lusis (1-11) in Marijampole 81-62. It was a quality performance for Tomas Galeckas who led the winners and scored 9 points and 7 assists. Laimonas Remeikis came up with 28 points and 9 rebounds for Silales Lusis in the defeat. Suduva-Mantinga maintains first place with 13-3 record. Silales Lusis lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Suduva-Mantinga will meet Palanga (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Silales Lusis will play against the league’s second-placed Jonava (#2) and hope to win that game.
Fifteenth-ranked Mazeikiai (1-12) was very close to win a game against fifth ranked Gargzdu (8-3) in Gargzdai. Gargzdu managed to secure only two-point victory 83-81. However their fans expected much easier game. Modestas Kumpys fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Gargzdu maintains fifth place with 8-3 record. Mazeikiai at the other side stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Gargzdu’s next round opponent will be Vilkaviskis (#12) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Mazeikiai will play against Delikatesas in Joniskis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Silute. Tenth ranked Ezerunas (5-10) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Silute (7-5) 74-72 on Thursday evening. It was a very good performance for Deividas Kumelis who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 4 assists. Ezerunas’ coach Rolandas Alijevas used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Ezerunas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to ninth place. Loser Silute keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Ezerunas will have a break next round.

In the last two games of round 19 Vilkaviskis was smashed by Jonava on the road 92-64. Delikatesas won against Telsiai on its own court 74-70.

Zalgiris II – Palanga 74-85

NKL top team – Suduva-Mantinga (13-3) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed fourteenth ranked Silales Lusis (1-11) in Marijampole 81-62. Suduva-Mantinga shot 60.4 percent from the field. They also forced 21 Silales Lusis turnovers. It was a quality performance for point guard Tomas Galeckas (183-94) who led the winners and scored 9 points and 7 assists. Forward Rokas Stankevicius (202-95) accounted for 14 points for the winning side. Laimonas Remeikis (200-97) came up with 28 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Justas Kosys (183-91) added 8 points and 7 assists respectively for Silales Lusis in the defeat. Jonava – Vilkaviskis 92-64

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Jonava (11-2) crushed at home 12th ranked Vilkaviskis (3-5) 92-64 on Thursday. Jonava forced 22 Vilkaviskis turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Vilkaviskis was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for forward Laimonas Kisielius (203-85, college: William & Mary) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Ignas Labutis (199-94) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Jonava players scored in double figures. The former international Martynas Linkevicius (196-85) answered with 8 points and 9 rebounds and Aurimas Birgelis (190-88) added 8 points and 6 assists in the effort for Vilkaviskis. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Jonava have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-2 record having five points less than leader Suduva-Mantinga. Newly promoted Vilkaviskis keeps the twelfth position with five games lost. Jonava will face Silales Lusis (#14) in Rietavas in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Vilkaviskis will play at home against Gargzdu and hope to win that game.

Delikatesas – Telsiai 74-70

There was an upset when higher ranked Telsiai (5-5) lost to thirteenth ranked Delikatesas (3-7) in Joniskis 70-74 on Thursday. Strangely Telsiai outrebounded Delikatesas 39-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for guard Sarunas Kulevicius (194-89) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. American point guard Justin McCarthur (183-95, college: Shippensburg) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Forward Ovidijus Kaminskis (195-91) answered with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Mindaugas Norkus (201-85) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Telsiai. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Delikatesas maintains thirteenth place with 3-7 record. Telsiai lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with five games lost. Delikatesas will face bottom-ranked Mazeikiai (#15) at home in the next round.
