Here is the weekly review of the top performing Turkish players, who play currently abroad.
   #1. This week’s number one is former international center Enes Kanter (211-92, college: Kentucky, currently plays in NBA). He could not help the Portland Trail Blazers (18-14) in their last game. Despite Kanter’s very good performance the Portland Trail Blazers (18-14) lost 111-118 on the road to the Washington Wizards.
He had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 13 rebounds in 34 minutes on the court.
It was Trail Blazers’ fourth consecutive loss in a row.
It’s Kanter’s first season with the team.
Kanter has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 11.7ppg, 11.5rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 57.9%(157-271) and FT: 74.7% in 32 games he played so far.
Kanter played for the Turkish senior national team seven years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former international shooting guard Furkan Korkmaz (198-97, currently plays in NBA). He was the major contributor in a Philadelphia 76ers‘ victory against the Toronto Raptors (17-17) 109-102 in the NBA last Tuesday.
Korkmaz scored 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
The Philadelphia 76ers have a solid 22-12 record this season.
Korkmaz has relatively good stats this year: 7.6ppg, 2.5rpg, 2FGP: 46.0%, 3FGP: 32.3%.
He played for the Turkish national team in 2019.

   #3. The Turkish player who performed third best last week abroad was former international guard Scottie Wilbekin (188-93, agency: BeoBasket, college: Florida, currently plays in Euroleague). Wilbekin was not able to help Maccabi T-A (10-14) in their last game. Despite his good performance Maccabi T-A was edged 72-70 in Muenchen by the much higher-ranked (#5) Bayern.
Wilbekin was the second best scorer with 10 points. He also added 5 passes in 27 minutes.
It was Maccabi T-A’s third consecutive loss in a row.
Wilbekin has very impressive stats this year: 15.4ppg, 2.4rpg, 4.4apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 49.5%, 3FGP: 33.2% and FT: 87.5% in 24 games.
He is a naturalized American.
Despite Wilbekin played previously for the USA U19 national team, he played also for the Turkish national team in 2019.
Wilbekin used to play for Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul in Turkish league.

   #4. Forward Cedi Osman (204-95, currently plays in NBA) led Cleveland Cavaliers to a 1-point victory against the Atlanta Hawks (14-19) 112-111 in the NBA in Tuesday night’s game.
He scored 11 points and added 3 assists.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have 13-21 record this season.
It was his team’s third consecutive victory in a row.
Osman is one of the most experienced players in a team as it’s his fourth year in Cavaliers’ roster.
This season Osman has very high stats. He averages: 11.2ppg, 3.6rpg and 2.7apg.
Osman has a dual citizenship: North Macedonian and Turkish.
He used to play for the Turkish national team
back in 2019.
   #5. Former U16 international forward Yavuz Gultekin (201-0, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to secure a victory for the San Diego (2-7) in their game against the Gonzaga University (16-1) in the NCAA.
He scored 8 points.
The San Diego was crushed 106-69 at home by the Gonzaga University.
The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA.
Gultekin’s overall stats this season are: 4.8ppg and 3.0rpg.
He used to play for the Turkish U16 national team
five years ago.

   #6. Guard Ege Havsa (196-97, currently studies in the States) couldn’t help the Rice (6-10) in their game against the Louisiana Tech University (12-4) in the NCAA. He cannot count Friday’s game as one of the best ones.
Havsa scored only 2 points and added 3 assists.
The Rice was crushed 101-57 on their home court in Houston by the Louisiana Tech University.
The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA.
Havsa’s overall stats this season are: 4.9ppg, 2.4rpg and 3.1apg.
He is a former U20 international player as he played for the Turkish team four years ago.

The list of other players, who all have Turkish passport but never been selected to any of Turkish national teams:

   #1. Yagizhan Selcuk (203-F/C, currently plays in NCAA2) contributed to an Missouri Southern State University‘s surprising victory against the Pittsburg State University 93-74 in the NCAA2 last Saturday.
Selcuk recorded 8 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 20 minutes.
The Missouri Southern State University has 7-7 record this season.
The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA2.
This year Selcuk’s overall stats are: 4.4ppg and 3.2rpg in 10 games he played so far.

   #2. Experienced Cem Uner (197-F-3, currently plays in United Kingdom) could not help Lions (4-0) in their last game. Despite Uner’s good performance Lions was crushed 77-53 on the road by the lower-ranked (#4) Knights.
He had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 11 rebounds in 24 minutes.
This year Uner’s overall stats are: 7.7ppg, 5.3rpg and 1.6apg in seven games.

   #3. Cem Akbayir (190-PG-99, currently plays in Germany) managed to help Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt 2nd team in a victory against the 13th-ranked Erfurt (0-4) 89-79 in the German ProB (third division) on Sunday night.
Akbayir recorded only 3 points in 8 minutes on the court.
Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt 2nd team (7-13) is placed ninth in South group.
It was his team’s third consecutive victory in a row.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
This year Akbayir averages just 1.3ppg in 12 games.
He has a dual citizenship: Turkish and German.

   #4. Atakan Sahinkaya (196-F-99, currently plays in NCAA2) contributed to an easy victory against the Maryville University (6-7) crushing them 81-58 in the NCAA2 in Saturday night’s game.
Sahinkaya scored only 2 points.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. The Lewis University has a solid 9-3 record this season.
The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA2.
Sahinkaya’s overall stats this year are: 6.6ppg, 6.4rpg and 1.1apg.

   #5. Volkan Ozdemir (188-G-96, currently plays in Austria) was not able to help KOS (10-7) in their last game. Despite his good performance KOS was badly defeated 76-57 in Salzburg by the lower-ranked (#6) BBU.
Ozdemir was the top scorer with 13 points in 38 minutes.
His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial.
Ozdemir has been at the team for four years.
This season Ozdemir’s overall stats are: 4.2ppg and 1.2rpg in six games.
He is another player who holds two passports: Turkish and Austrian.

   #6. Roni Koshi (194-G-2, currently plays in Kosovo) contributed to a 2-point Trepca/AS‘s victory against the second-ranked Prizreni 116-114 in the Kosovan Superliga on Saturday night.
Koshi scored only 2 points.
This season he averages just 1.4ppg.
Koshi has both Turkish and Kosovan nationalities.

   #7. Murat Guzelocak (201-F-1, currently plays in NAIA) contributed to a Carroll College‘s shocking victory against the University of Montana Western 77-63 in the NAIA in Sunday night’s game.
He scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 18 minutes.
This year Guzelocak’s overall stats are: 2.9ppg and 3.3rpg in 15 games.
