Chelsea contact Donnarumma, Barcelona to sell Griezmann and Chelsea to try and sign Goretzka in Chelsea roundup…
Fresh reports have claimed that Chelsea are closing in on a summer transfer deal to bring Gianluigi Donnarumma to the Premier League on a free contract from AC Milan
Despite the addition of Edouard Mendy in the summer to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga as Chelsea’s first-choice in between the sticks, the Blues are said to be interested in signing Donnarumma.
The young Italian stopper is regarded as one of the best in the game right now, and there has been alot of rumours about his next move, especially as he simply cannot agree a contract with the Italian giants, meaning he could leave on a free at the end of the season.
WHAT IS THE LATEST?
According to journalist Duncan Castles, both Chelsea and Manchester United have already made contact about a potential move.
Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Castles said: “Our information is that both Chelsea and Manchester United have been in talks with Raiola about Donnarumma.
“It looks like Donnarumma has an opportunity to move to England, should he choose to.
“Accompanied by the commission that Raiola seeks and would want for free transfer of such a valuable asset.
“There is an opportunity for either club and others to secure Donnarumma on a longer-term contract without their being a fee.”
WILL CHELSEA SECURE A TRANSFER DEAL FOR DONNARUMMA?
If they actually serious about getting the lad signed up, then then yes they will get a deal done.
As we said, he is one of the very best stoppers in the game already, and considering he is what like 21? He has plenty of time to develop into the very best stopper in the game.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out, but if Chelsea want him, they have the money to get him on a five-year deal
There has been some reports in the media which have suggested that Chelsea are looking at a deal for Leon Goretzka in a bid to get the very best of out Kai Havertz.
Chelsea beat off a whole load of clubs in the last transfer window in order to get Kai Havertz all signed up, with many believing that he had the potential to go on and be the next Eden Hazard at the Bridge.
However, he’s failed to live up to those expectations in his debut season in the Premier League, as ex-boss Frank Lampard struggled to work out Havertz’s best position while Thomas Tuchel has been unable to use the midfielder on a regular basis due to an injury.
Now there are reports that Chelsea are looking to try and snap up a possible deal for Goretzka.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID?
The 26-year-old has enjoyed another strong season with Bayern Munich with his ability to be effective at both ends of the pitch, but Goretzka’s contract situation is yet to be resolved with the Bundesliga giants and his current deal expires in 2022.
That could make him available at a cut-price this summer with Bayern expected to undergo big changes with a number of players on expiring contracts.
And Goretzka’s close relationship with Havertz in the German national team could well be the answer for Chelsea in unlocking the 21-year-old’s full potential.
Chelsea have been alerted to the massive news that Barcelona are looking to sell Antoine Griezmann in the summer transfer window.
Griezmann joined Barca from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2019, having established himself as one of the world’s best forwards while winning the World Cup with France.
After firing at least 20 goals in each of the last six seasons, Griezmann scored just 15 times in 48 games in his first season for Barca, a disappointing haul given the €120m (£107m/$134m) fee required to bring him to the club, and he has not faired any better this season.
He has largely been played out of position since joining Barca, and because of that fact, he has not looked like the player that dominated over at Madrid for so many years and became one of the very best players in world football.
WHAT IS THE LATEST?
According to El Confidencial, the club’s short-term debt stands at €730m and they need to lighten their salary burden before entering the market.
Four names have been identified for potential sales in the upcoming window, with Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho, Samuel Umtiti and Francisco Trincao believed to be on the chopping block.
WOULD HE BE WELCOME AT CHELSEA?
One of the best attacking players in world football and a man that has been linked with the Premier League alot over the past few seasons, yes he would be welcome at the London giants.
They may not need another midfielder in the squad, but how could they turn down the opportunity to sign one of the best players in world football? Especially at a bargain price.
It is a shame that Griezmann has not excelled at Barca, but we would love him here in the Premier League.
