Chelsea have reportedly made contact regarding a move for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski this summer.
Lewandowski is on the brink of breaking more records this season, as he closes in on 40 Bundesliga goals in 2020-21, but there has been alot of rumours that he could actually leave the club at the end of the season.
Chelsea, who will be in need of adding a striker to the attack in the transfer window, are just one of a number of clubs that are reportedly keeping a very close eye on his situation at Bayern.
Now Sky Germany say Lewandowski is a topic of discussion among the hierarchy at Chelsea, and The report claims contact has already been made regarding a potential raid on Bayern Munich.
However, Chelsea would have to persuade Lewandowski to join them as Spain is still his most preferred destination if he were to leave Bayern.
But amid the speculation, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has moved quickly to rubbish any suggestion that their star man could leave at the end of the season: “Sure he stays. Who sells a player that scores 60 goals a year?” Rummenigge, chairman of the executive board at Bayern, told Sport1.
Look, He is showing no sign of slowing down, having hit another 46 goals across all competitions this season, and has spoken of a desire to play on for at least another five years. So the rumours that he could leave have been a shock to see in the media.
But if Chelsea did manage to secure some kind of transfer deal for the man, he would be a very special signing for the club that is for sure.
