Julian Nagelsmann is “confident” Arsenal target Leon Goretzka will extend his contract at Bayern Munich
Now we all know that Mikel Arteta is a man that knows he needs to splash some serious cash this transfer window and add some players to the squad that will send a real statement to the rest of the Premier League
The Gunners have already wrapped up deals for the likes of Nuno Tavares and Ben White, who has been signed by the club in a deal worth £50 million, but there is some reports that he is interested in a deal for Goretzka
The Germany international joined Bayern on a free transfer from Schalke in 2018 and he’s a regular at the Allianz Arena, scoring eight times in 32 appearances last term, but Goretzka is said to be open to leaving the club after three years in Bavaria.
However, despite all the speculation, Nagelsmann is optimistic he will choose to remain with the German champions this transfer window, Asked for an update on his contract situation, Nagelsmann told reporters: “I’m not involved enough that I have a say every day. I stay out of these issues.
“Of course I have talked to him about my plans for him. I’ve told him I’d be happy if he extended and I’m also confident. There are several topics involved when it comes to discussing a contract extension.
“I’ll continue to focus on the sports side of things and show him he can be one of the most dangerous midfielders in Europe. He has potential to get even better.”
We can see just why Arsneal are very much interested in seeing a deal for Goretzka, but unless The Gunners make an offer that is simply too good to turn down, we cannot see the German leaving the Bundesliga giants this summer
