American Center Gary Ware (205-C-83) had a great game in the last round for Rocks, receiving a Hoops Agents 2.Bundesliga Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 37-year old player had a double-double of 28 points and 16 rebounds, while his team beat Lions (#9, 1-7) 73-62. Rocks is placed at 3rd position in Austrian 2.Bundesliga. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Rocks already had a very good start winning all 4 without losing a single one. In the team’s last game Ware had a remarkable 56.0% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Rocks, through which he has constantly improved. Former Purdue University star has very solid stats this year. Ware is in league’s top in points (5th best: 21.0ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 10.5rpg) and averages impressive 52.9% FGP.
The second best player in last round’s games was 26-year old British David Akibo (201-F-94) of Panthers. Akibo had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds. Of course he led Panthers to another comfortable win 72-58 over the higher-ranked KOS (#4, 4-2) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Panthers to move up to 7th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 2-3 record. Akibo is a newcomer at Panthers, but is already one of team’s top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.8ppg (#6). He also registered 9.6 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was another Rocks’ star – forward Marko Soldo (195-F-95). Soldo scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was another key player of Rocks, helping his team with a 73-62 win against the lower-ranked Lions (#9, 1-7). Rocks started extremely well this year. They recorded 4 victories without losing a single game. Soldo turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Soldo has a very solid season. In 4 games in Austria he scored 9.8ppg.
