We bring you last week’s top performances from Estonians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
   #1. This week’s number one is an international forward Kaspar Treier (204-99, currently plays in Italy). He contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Pesaro (4-2) crushing them 99-74 in the Italian Serie A in Sunday night’s game.
Treier recorded 10 points in 22 minutes on the court.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Banco di Sardegna Sassari (4-2) is placed first in the Serie A.
It’s Treier’s first season with the team.
This year he averages: 3.1ppg, 1.5rpg, 2FGP: 55.6%(10-18), 3FGP: 31.6% and FT: 83.3% in 14 games he played so far.
Treier has a dual citizenship: Estonian and Italian.
He is currently a member of the Estonian senior national team.
   #2. Second place goes to an experienced international shooting guard Henri Drell (205-0, currently plays in Italy) faced previously mentioned Kaspar Treier in the Italian Serie A last game.
Drell. He could not help Pesaro (2-1) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Drell’s very good performance Pesaro was crushed 99-74 on the road by the much lower-ranked Sassari (#11).
He was the top scorer with 16 points. Drell also added 5 rebounds.
Drell’s overall stats this season are: 4.3ppg, 1.7rpg, 2FGP: 56.5%(13-23), 3FGP: 26.3%.
He is in the roster of the Estonian senior national team.
   #3. The Estonian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Joonas Jarvelainen (202-90, currently plays in Iceland). Jarvelainen led Grindavik to a victory against the league outsider Thor AK (0-3) 119-105 in the Icelandic Dominos League on Friday night.
He scored 20 points, had 8 boards, passed 3 assists and added 3 steals in 22 minutes.
U.M.F. Grindavik (3-0) is placed first in the Dominos League.
So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
Jarvelainen has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 19.7ppg, 6.3rpg, 2.3apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 57.1%(16-28), 3FGP: 37.5% in three games.
Jarvelainen played for the Estonian national team six years ago.

   #4. Forward Maik-Kalev Kotsar (211-96, college: S.Carolina, currently plays in Germany) was not able to help Hamburg Towers in their game against Bayern Muenchen (2-1) in the German BBL.
He recorded 6 points.
Hamburg Towers was defeated 85-71 in Muenchen by the leading Bayern.
Kotsar has relatively good stats this season: 12.6ppg, 6.2rpg, 1.5apg and 1.1spg.
He used to play for the Estonian national team
back in 2018.
   #5. International forward Sander Raieste (204-99, currently plays in Spain) managed to help TD Systems Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz in a victory against the league outsider Real Betis (4-15) crushing them 103-76 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Sunday.
Raieste scored only 4 points in 10 minutes.
TD Systems Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (15-4) is placed third in the Liga Endesa.
It was his team’s seventh consecutive victory in a row.
This year Raieste averages just 1.0ppg in nine games.
He plays currently for the Estonian national team.

   #6. Forward Artur Konontsuk (203-0, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the Middle Tennessee State University (1-3) crushing them 84-54 in the NCAA in Friday night’s game.
He scored 12 points in a mere 17 minutes.
The University of Southern Mississippi has 3-3 conference record this season.
This year Konontsuk’s overall stats are: 6.3ppg and 2.8rpg in 13 games.
He is a former U18 international player as he played for the Estonian team three years ago.

   #7. International point guard Rait-Riivo Laane (179-93, currently plays in Romania) was not able to secure a victory for Miercurea Ciuc (0-4) in their game against Oradea (1-2) in the Romanian Liga Nationala.
Laane scored 8 points, had 7 rebounds and dished 7 assists.
Miercurea Ciuc was badly defeated 81-61 at home by the higher-ranked Oradea (#3).
So far Miercurea Ciuc lost all four games in the Regular Season.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
Laane’s total stats this season are: 9.0ppg, 3.4rpg and 4.0apg.
He is also Estonian national team player.

   #8. Forward Taavi Jurkatamm (206-97, currently studies in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the University of Portland (0-4) 79-63 in the NCAA on Thursday night.
Jurkatamm scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 31 minutes.
The University of San Francisco has 3-3 conference record this season.
Jurkatamm has been at the team for four years.
This year his total stats are: 6.3ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.9apg in 16 games.
Jurkatamm used to play for the Estonian U20 national team
back in 2016.
   #9. Former University international power forward Matthias Tass (208-99, is currently at the American university) couldn’t help the St.Mary’s, CA (0-3) in their game against the Gonzaga University (7-0) in the NCAA.
He recorded 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
But the St.Mary’s, CA was defeated 73-59 in Spokane by the Gonzaga University.
So far St.Mary’s, CA lost all three games in the conference Tass has averaged so far 9.9ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.9apg.
He used to play for the Estonian university national team
three years ago.

   #10. Shooting guard Jaan Puidet (194-92, agency: Players Group, currently plays in Spain) couldn’t help Valladolid (6-5) in their game against Leche Rio Breogan (9-2) in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Puidet cannot count Sunday’s game as one of the best ones.
He recorded only 2 points in 3 minutes on the court.
The third-placed Valladolid (6-5) lost 70-80 on their home court in Valladolid to the leading Leche Rio Breogan in the Group A.
There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial.
Puidet has averaged so far 8.2ppg, 2.6rpg and 1.2apg in five games.
He is a former international player as three years ago he still played for the Estonian senior national team.

   #11. Former U18 international guard Carlos Jurgens (196-98, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to ORU‘s victory against the Denver University 88-84 in the NCAA on Friday night.
Jurgens scored 6 points and added 3 assists.
Jurgens has averaged so far 3.8ppg, 2.3rpg and 1.6apg.
He used to play for the Estonian U18 national team
five years ago.

   #12. Former U18 international forward Mait Peterson (208-2, currently plays in Italy) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Tessilform Bernareggio 94-78 in the Italian Serie B (third division) in Saturday night’s game.
Peterson recorded only 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 19 minutes.
Peterson has averaged so far 2.9ppg and 2.1rpg in seven games.
He used to play for the Estonian U18 national team
back in 2019.

   #13. International small forward Rain Veideman (192-91, currently plays in Germany) couldn’t help Rostock (11-3) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Veideman’s very good performance the league leader Rostock was defeated 82-76 in Kirchheim by the second-ranked Knights.
He was the second best scorer with 18 points. Veideman also added 4 rebounds.
This season Veideman has relatively solid stats: 12.4ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.3apg.
He is also Estonian national team player.

One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Estonian passport:

   #1. Experienced Jonas Riisma (196-F/G-2, currently plays in Italy) contributed to a 3-point Pistoia‘s victory against the second-ranked Ferrara (8-3) 90-87 in the Italian Serie A2 (second division) on Sunday night.
Riisma recorded 9 points.
It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in Group B. Georgio Tesi Group Pistoia (2-2) is placed second.
Riisma’s overall stats this season are: 4.7ppg and 1.8rpg.
