After 5 rounds played we can already see who rules in the Basketligan and who belongs to weaker ones. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Basketligan top team – KFUM Jamtland (4-0) managed to deliver another win on Monday. This time they beat fifth ranked BC Lulea (2-3) 77-65. They outrebounded BC Lulea 44-30 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international forward Pierre Hampton (201-91) stepped up and scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and American forward Steve Harris (201-95, college: ESU) chipped in 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Austrian-American forward Bryce Douvier (201-91, college: TAMUCC) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. BC Lulea’s coach Peter Oqvist rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. KFUM Jamtland have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-0 record. BC Lulea lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. KFUM Jamtland are looking forward to face Koping Stars (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. BC Lulea will play against Norrkoping Dolphins and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
Bottom-ranked Fryshuset (0-5) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to seventh ranked Umea (2-2) 88-74. American guard DeMarco Dickerson (196-97, college: SHU, agency: One Motive Sports) nailed 28 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and Willesley Butler accounted for 18 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Umea’s coach Boris Balibrea used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Rami Ghanem (185-93, college: Keyano) came up with 19 points and 9 assists for Fryshuset in the defeat. Umea moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Boras and Koping Stars. Fryshuset at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Umea will play against Nassjo (#8) on the road in the next round. Fryshuset will have a break next round.

In the last two games of round 5 Nassjo lost to undefeated Sodertalje on the opponent’s court 64-70. Koping Stars unfortunately lost to Boras in a home game 77-84.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 26 points and 11 rebounds by Dominic Robb of Koping Stars.

Sodertalje – Nassjo 70-64

Very expected game in Sodertalje where 8th ranked Nassjo (1-4) was defeated by leader SBBK (3-0) 70-64. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. SBBK made 20-of-21 charity shots (95.2 percent) during the game. The former international point guard Jonathan Person (190-93) nailed 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winning side and American forward Galin Smith (206-98, college: Maryland) accounted for 13 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Abdou Medjedoub (198-93) came up with 12 points and 7 rebounds and forward Craig Lecesne (206-97, college: SJSU) added 7 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Nassjo in the defeat. Nassjo’s coach Joakim Kallman tested ten players, but that didn’t help to avoid defeat in this game. SBBK have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Nassjo at the other side keeps the eighth position with four games lost. SBBK will play against Boras Basket (#5) on the road in the next round. Nassjo will play against Umea to get more than just one victory in their record.

Koping Stars – Boras 77-84

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Boras Basket (2-2) defeated on the road 4th placed Koping Stars (2-2) 84-77. International William Gutenius (206-92) nailed 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Derreck Brooks Jr (198-94, college: Cent Arkansas) accounted for 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Boras Basket players scored in double figures. American power forward Dominic Robb (203-96, college: Niagara) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Jordan Giles (198-98, college: UMKC, agency: One Motive Sports) added 28 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Koping Stars in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Boras Basket moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Umea and Koping Stars. Boras Basket will play against league’s second-placed SBBK in Sodertalje in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Koping Stars will play on the road against the league’s leader KFUM Jamtland in Ostersund and hope to get back on the winning track.
