Experienced Worthy de Jong (194-G-88) had an amazing evening in the last round for Leiden and that’s him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Round award for Qualifying Round in Basketball Champions League.
The 33-year old guard had the game-high 21 points adding eight rebounds and eight assists for Leiden in his team’s victory, helping them to edge out Belfius Mons (#18, 0-1) 76-74. Leiden is placed at 4th position in Basketball Champions League. But it’s just the very beginning of the Qualifying Round and Leiden won just one (their first) game. It’s too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team’s last game de Jong had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Leiden, through which he has constantly improved. de Jong has impressive league stats. He is in league’s top in points (8th best: 21.0ppg) and averages solid 75.0% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was 33-year old American power forward Sean Evans (203-PF-88) of Prometey. Evans impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds. Of course he led Prometey to another comfortable win outscoring Levski Lukoil (0-1) 96-56. His team has extremely good start of the Qualifying Round. They won their first game. However the Qualifying Round is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Evans is a newcomer at Prometey and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team’s leaders.
The third best performed player last round was American Bryon Allen (193-G-92) of H.Eilat (#19). Allen scored 28 points and grabbed five rebounds. Despite Allen’s great performance H.Eilat lost 76-79 to Parma (#5, 1-0). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. H.Eilat can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful Qualifying Round losing so far all 1 games. Too bad for Allen he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. The season just started for Allen as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team’s leader.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
