33-year old center Uros Nikolic (204-C-87) had a great game in the last round for Lugano and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 24.
He had a double-double of 28 points and 14 rebounds, while his team lost the game against Neuchatel (#4, 12-9) 86-97. Lugano moved-up to the 7th position in Swiss league. Lugano is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. But it was their 14th lost game this season out of 21 games. In the team’s last game Nikolic had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be Lugano’s top player in his first season with the team. Nikolic has impressive league stats. He is league’s best scorer averaging so far 21.0ppg. Nikolic is in league’s top in rebounds (2nd best: 10.8rpg) and averages solid 59.1% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Devin Cooper (189-G-97) of Boncourt. He is American guard in his first season at Boncourt. In the last game Cooper recorded impressive 24 points, 2 rebounds and 9 assists. Of course he led Boncourt to another comfortable win 88-71 over the higher-ranked Monthey (#5, 7-13) being unquestionably team leader. Boncourt’s 8th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 7-15 record. Cooper is a newcomer at Boncourt and quickly became one of team’s most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.6ppg (#5). He also recorded 5.0 assists per game.
Third place about best performers goes to Xavier Ford (203-SF-93) of Neuchatel (#4). Ford scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of Neuchatel, leading his team to a 97-86 win against the lower-ranked Lugano (#7, 7-14). Neuchatel needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 12 victories and 9 lost games. Ford has a very solid season. In 8 games in Switzerland he scored 19.3ppg. He also has 5.8rpg, 2.1spg and FGP: 61.9%.
